Lysimachia ephemerum produces ghostly white flower spikes of starry blooms rising above clumps of silvery green foliage. This lovely species of loosestrife is unfortunately rarely seen in UK gardens. An elegant perennial loved by butterflies, it enjoys moist borders and bog gardens – particularly suiting a damp area at the edge of a pond or a stream. Awarded an RHS AGM for its garden performance, Lysimachia ephemerum is also a stunning cut flower. Height: 100cm (39″). Spread: 30cm (12″).

Plant Lysimachia in moist, fertile soil that does not dry out in summer; adding plenty of compost or well rotted manure prior to planting. Golden Lysimachia will happily grow in clay soil, bog gardens or at the margins of a pond. Choose a final position in sun or semi-shade.
Feed and water Lysimachia plants regularly until they are fully established. In autumn, remove old foliage and faded flower stems. Divide overcrowded clumps of dotted loosestrife in spring and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plants.
