A cottage garden wouldn’t be complete without a lupin or two so why not add a modern variety into the mix? Lupin ‘The Chatelaine’ boasts a pleasing mix of pink and white in the tall spires of pea-like flowers that provide colour from early summer onwards. Like all Lupins ‘The Chatelaine’ doesn’t ask for much in return, it’s a hardy perennial that will thrive in sun or semi shade and will be at home in a border or woodland garden. Height: 90cm (35″). Spread: 60cm (24″).

Plant lupins in a sunny or semi shaded position in moist, well drained soil.
Feed and water regularly until plants are established. Cut back faded flower spikes to encourage a second flush to be produced. In autumn, remove any yellowing foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant.
