The ultimate cottage garden perennial, Hollyhock rosea ‘Pleniflora’ produces fully double, pink pom-pom blooms all the way up its impressive 1.8m (6′) tall stems. The tall, slender habit of Hollyhocks makes them perfect for planting in close groups for maximum effect. Thriving in sunny borders, grow Hollyhock ‘Pleniflora’ Â towards the back of the border to add height and drama to summer planting schemes. Height: 180cm (71″). Spread: 60cm (24″).
Culinary information: try crystallising the flowers for a tasty cake decoration, or use them to make a delicately flavoured syrup to use with puddings. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Grow hollyhocks in a sheltered position away from strong winds. Plant in full sun, on fertile, well drained soil.
Feed and water regularly until plants are established. Support the tall flower stems with garden canes if necessary. In autumn, remove old foliage and faded hollyhock flower stems, and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant.
