The slender, arching stems of Gaura lindheimeri are tipped with panicles of rosy pink buds, which open to reveal white flowers. This dazzling perennial holds an RHS AGM – and it’s easy to see why! It’s an elegant species in bloom over an incredibly long period, from June right through to October. Its delicate-looking flowers make a refined addition to cut flower arrangements, and attract pollinating insects. A graceful, hardy plant for the herbaceous border, Gaura lindheimeri brings movement to planting schemes with its loose and airy habit. Height: 90cm (35″). Spread: 60cm (24″).

Plant Gaura in any fertile, moist, well drained soil in borders or containers. If growing Gaura in containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Although they prefer a position in full sun and moist soil, Gauras will tolerate drought and part shade once established.

Feed and water gaura plants regularly. Cut back faded gaura flower stems in autumn. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant in spring.
